The two genealogies of Jesus

There are two genealogies of Jesus in the New Testament, one in Matthew and one in Luke. Up to King David, they are the same, then one goes with Solomon and the other goes with Nathan. From then on, they are completely different.

Now, if you know anything about God, you will know that was no accident. So what is the meaning? There could be some esoteric meaning about Messiah son of Joseph and Messiah son of David, the Suffering Servant and the conquering king. I don’t have any opinion there. Saint Paul says, don’t pay attention to genealogies.

I think it’s there to tell us, you have to use your brains. If we had been given a complete text, without any contradictions or mysteries or problematic areas, it would have hindered or possibly prevented any development on our part. We have the text, but we also have to use our brains.
